Lead-acid batteries top the list of the most highly recycled consumer product. That’s right, 95% of all lead-acid batteries are recovered and recycled in the United States, with aluminum cans being 55%, newspapers 45% and glass and bottles being 26%.
Used antifreeze can be recycled for use by the mining industry, which sprays it on coal to keep it from sticking together and the glycol industry, which uses it as an airplane deicing solution. It is also used in cement grinding and brake fluid.
